                    TEESTA RIVER
Today I am telling about Teesta river, a beautiful river having scenic beauty allover.The way of Gangtok the view of Teesta river excellent. If you travel Gangtok you can enjoy the beauty of Teesta river. Teesta is the shorten form of Trisrota means it flowed in three channels East-Karatoya, West-Pubarbhaba & Centre- Atrai. The course of this river had changed by devastating flood in 1787.

This river originates in Estern Himalays (North Sikim) actual source of this river Gemu glacier, Pauhunri lake,Cholamau lake & Gurudongmar lake and flows through Sikim, West Bengal(India) up to Bangladesh and joins with Jamuna river at Fulcharri Bangladesh.
In details Teesta river 315 km long flowing from Rangpo(Sikim),Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri & Coochbehar(West Bengal) and then enter into Bangladesh. That is in India 172 km through hill 98 km in plains and balance km in Banglades.

From Sikim up to Sevoke the view of Teesta excellent you can't imagine without seeing personally. The color of the river Green. On way to Gangtok you definitely stop 2 or 3 points to feel the beauty and take some clicks.

Specially the view of the river along with hill at River rafting point you will enjoy most.

There are many bridges overTeesta river.Also there are many Damps and barages in this river.

Testa bazar bridge
Located at Teesta Bazar, Kalingpong dist,West Bengal. This bridge has connected West Bengal & Sikim as well as Kalingpong town.

Coronation bridge(Bag pool)
This bridge over Teesta river at Sevoke,West Bengal. It was constructed by British and completed in the year 1947. This bridge has connected Darjeeling dist with Dooars.
In this connection I also like to inform you that another bridge constructed by British 1894, suspension bridge in Sikim. People can walk on this bridge but  vechiles not allowed.

Gajoldoba Teesta cannel

Gajoldoba Teesta barrage & bridge
This bridge over Teesta river at Gajoldoba, Jalpaiguri near Saraswatipur Tea Estate,has connected Jalpaiguri with Odlabari, Dooars and hills, Short rute. This place now  known as popular Tourist place.
Teesta Main bridge
On 31 no National highway at Jalpaiguri. This is the main connector with East part of India. 1 km. long.

Beltoli bridge
The last bridge over Teesta river near Bangladesh border, Beltoli, Holidibari, Coochbehar dist. This bridge is now under construction. It will connect Holidibari with Mekhliganj , Coochbehar. It will be the longest bridge over Teesta river in India.
