             LAMAHATTA ECO PARK

Lamahhta is a small village in Tukdah, West Bengal ,India is located at an altitude of about 5700 fts.  From Darjeeling only 23 km, time require to reach here only 1 hr approx by car and from siliguri 67 kms. time require only 2hrs and 30 min approx by car.

  Before 2012 it was only a village after2012 with the help of our Honorable chief Minister Ms.Mamota Banerjee this small village has been developed as Eco- park. Now this place become most attractive place among the turists.The local villagers and forest protection team worked together to convert this village as an Eco-park.

Lamahata  -  lama stands for Budhhist monk and hat-a for  monk's hermitage. The main inhabitants are tribes like Bhutias,Dukpas,Yalmos and Sherpas.

  A beautiful manicured garden has been created in the slope of the hill just road side. Beautiful well maintained garden many kind of orchids & flowers here and

the forest of dhupi and pine inside the garden has increased the beauty of it's .  Beside the walking path Inside the garden you will find wooden & bamboo  made  gazebos and benches where you can relax and enjoy charm of the garden and scenic beauty of natural view of hill and snow peaks.

 

From here in clear weather you can enjoy the super view of  snow peak of  KANCHANJUNGA, TIGER HIL & NAMCHI(SIKIM) . The beautiful Rangeet river flowing below.

Also you can enjoy the view of Darjeeling town and it's landscape.The trekking route has also been built through the pine tree maze to JORE POKHRI(Twin ponds). Obviously you need lot of energy to get there.

To enjoy more scenic beauty one watch tower has been made inside the garden for tourists.

The colorful Buddhist prayer flags fluttering one side of the garden, local peoples say that thease flags purify the surroundings and mind of the people. The Buddhist monetary just 20 min walking distance from here. Garden entry ticket just Rs.10/-. Maximum time you can spend is one hr.

You may go to Lover point near Lamhatta Where Teesta river meets Rnngit river, excellent view. 


HOW TO COME HERE FROM SILIGURI:-

Two route you can use 
By car
1. Siliguri to Sevoke ---- From sevoke go towards Teesta Bazar--- Just Before Teesta Bazar Teesta  Bridge you find the road which is going downward, use this road and go near about 1 hr approx you will reach at the destination.

2. From Siliguri go towards Rohini -- use Rohini road  and go towards Kurseong -- From kurseong go towards Darjeeling--At Jore Bunglow turn right and go 30 min approx and you reach at the Destination,
First route is shorter than 2nd route.

I went there by car by using 1st route a and enjoyed mind blowing scenic beauty of Teesta river,Rangeet river, Peshok Tea Garden and beautiful views of hill and

returned by 2nd route at evening and enjoyed the night views of the hill.

YOU CAN ALSO GO TO LAMHATTA FROM DARJEELING ONLY 23 KMS.

IDEAL TIME TO GO THERE OCTOBER TO APRIL. AS PER MY OPINION AVOID RAINY SEASON.

Several home stays here owned by local villagers. Good accommodation. Total 15 rooms.
You can also stay at Tukdah or Tinchula and visit here as sight scene spot.
